the information about OSCE, changes to placement documentation was helpful but I don't think it needed to be a whole week long or for us to actually be there in person. The hand over and breaking bad news sessions were helpful. I know there were some people a bit upset about the session but I don't see how it could have been done differently and it is better to practice in this environment rather than wait till actually out on the wards.

The attendance QR codes were taken down off the board before the session began when people were still walking in and getting seated - maybe having a print out at the front would be better as it means when everyone enters they can scan it, then you could take it away when the lesson begins?
I think it would be better to spread out the lectures during the week so you have the prescribing tutorial and clinical skills on the same day and then spread Friday's lectures over two days so that we get a lunch break
Joining the UKFPO application session late from inverness as there was no one in the room, and subsequently missing the first 20 minutes as Aberdeen had already begun.

Lecture theatres have limited capacity, but otherwise I don’t understand why people get sent to Inverness for this week, when most of the content is streamed from Aberdeen and even the in person stuff wasn’t Inverness specific. I feel this could have been an online lecture week similar to the psychiatry and GP teaching weeks in year 4

I feel there isn’t enough recognition regarding the difficulty of getting sign offs on ward placements due to there being a greater number of students to the same amount of eligible clinicians, increasing competition and reducing opportunities. It’s becoming increasingly challenging to meet the quotas for sign offs in the current climate, leading to unnecessary worrying about getting a C6/7 or not passing the year.

I feel most of the content I was already v familiar with, but can see perhaps for some may be useful.
It did not really cover anything about pathways I was expecting a more detailed overview of ALL of our options and what might be good prep during FY eg MRCP / MRCS, fellowships, research, pros and cons of different hospital choices for FY
I thought it was somewhat helpful, but was potentially a bit too general to be of any use. Specifics about competition ratios and the job application process, etc would be helpful.
we would appreciate a little more in depth on the different types of medical specialties and also other non-doctor careers. there was only a slide or two on this.

Please, please, please, can we stop getting this lecture? It is essentially the same word-for-word every prep week/lectures since year 1. I do not see why we must see this same diagram preached every year, it feels like unnecessary over categorisation of common sense. Yes the general principles are important, but we get it, its so repetitive, and honestly very condescending, please please please remove from the curricula, or teach it once across the 5 years and then never again.
It was quite repetitive of what we have had already.

Really helpful practising prescribing and doing a medicines reconciliation on HEPMA to simulate real life prescribing
It was good to use the practice prescribing platform on the computers to get familiar with it.

I think some of the examples were a bit tooo challenging - it might be nice to have some very basic questions and build up to more complex prescribing decisions.
I was in inverness. We had some really excellent tutorials particularly the one on prescribing. I liked being able to work with HEPMA and see the system. also the tutorial on gent prescribing was super helpful.

We could just do more of the bps website practice scenarios in our own time would be useful with actual mark schemes/answers after
The prescribing lecture/workbook session felt a bit too hands-off despite most of us not knowing what to do or how to prescribe properly. It would have been good to have a step-by-step guide before the workbook instead of spending most of the session confused and frustrated.

I would recommend advising people to bring a device along. Perhaps having a 2nd helper in LT to answer Qs
The prescribing session was really difficult. When trying to prescribe the fluids and insulin we recived no instructions and little support. The tutor didn't give us the answers. We just struggled through and probably still had it incorrect. We had never done it before and were missing key bits of knowlege like fluid can only be prescribed in bags 500ml or 1L which seems like common sense but if you don' know you just don't know. Would be helpful to work through with a tutor.
If the FYs could show us their best HEPMA tips, that would be great.
Tutors didn’t actually teach us how to fill out the fluids or insulin/dextrose prescription forms and many of us were left confused for the entire session how to do it.

This was a really great session, very good at filling in gaps in what we have been taught so far !
I was in in Inverness was really helpful and I enjoyed the games/quizzes we did outside.
Very useful to get practise in more challenging scenarios ahead of this next year.

Felt very synthetic and hard to put ourselves in that scenario when we have very limited information going in
Would be better if everyone had a go. Same old of nobody volunteering to do things. If students giving feed back along a row start at one end of the row one time and the other end on the way back. Means the people at both ends get the opportunity to give good feedback rather than the person at the end being stuck saying just was everyone else said twice.
A little time constraining for the non-patient partner aspect
There was a lot of prep work for this session, would be good to be provided with a more focused list as many people didn't do it all.

Thank you for putting this on, it was very helpful. The most useful things are the practical procedures i.e. ABG, and cannulation. Might also have been helpful to have the chance to practice phlebotomy too.

This was a really great session, engaging and helpful in preparing us to do this. It was good that it was not just a repeat of 'how to do SBARD' but was broader and therefore more helpful.

Actually explaining the new things for placement this year - the student assistantship was kind of explained but we heard nothing about what a TAB is, how to do a prescribing DOPS. Generally telling us more about the portfolio and what we actually need to do this year/how that works would’ve been more useful than most of the sessions.

Spread out the lectures over the week a bit more if possible, but appreciate this is probably logistically very difficult
Would have been beneficial to have more information on the full application process post-medical school and would have been beneficial to have a session on research and other ways to enhance our portfolio for specialty training post-medical school and what we can begin to do at this stage.
Some area I felt that were quite important were much shorter than other areas that could have been abbreviated- for example the mdu session was very short for info that I think is probably quite useful

A lot of these sessions such as the wba/osce, mdu and death certification were not carried out for Inverness students also due to IT issues a considerate part of the UKFPO session was also missed. While a lot of sessions such as prescribing and end of life etc were very useful others seemed to be yet another repeat of already heavily discussed subjects for example placement opportunities/showing up/wellbeing
I was in inverness. I found it difficult watching the live streams of the Aberdeen lectures. Given there was a lot of us in the room it was difficult to see the screen and as such hard to learn.
