Biography

Chike joined the School of Law as a lecturer in April 2022, having previously worked as a teaching fellow. His research interests broadly lie in corporate finance law, banking regulation, and international tax law. His monograph, The Transfer of Rights in Securitisations: A Law and Economics Analysis (2024), which offers a comprehensive doctrinal and policy analysis of how assignment laws in England, France, and Scotland facilitate the transfer of money claims and related security rights in securitisations, is available from . Chike also coordinates and teaches undergraduate and postgraduate courses in the subject areas mentioned above. He is Co-Director of the Centre for Commercial Law.

Chike holds law degrees from Aberdeen University (PhD), Glasgow University (LLM), the Nigerian Law School (BL), and Madonna University Okija (LLB (Hons)). He qualified as a barrister and solicitor in Nigeria in 2012 and served as Head Legal/Company Secretary at a leading renewable energy company. In this role, he advised on multiple commercial transactions, including a major tripartite mini-grid agreement, a receivables finance agreement, and a syndicated loan agreement.

Chike has previously received research grants from the Scottish Universities Law Institute, the Max Planck Institute for Comparative and International Private Law, and Afronomicslaw's African Sovereign Debt Justice Network. His current research, funded by the British Academy, examines the relationship between bank capital rules, climate change, and transition finance.
