The course introduces students to a variety of contemporary Francophone women’s perspectives on issues such as gender, identity, political action, sexuality and sustainability. These will be explored via a variety of documentary films released in the last 30 years.

This course aims to give students a better understanding of the diversity of Francophone women’s experiences in the contemporary era via the prism of documentary film. Students will gain an advanced understanding of a range of theoretical debates concerning gender, race, sexuality and subjectivity as well as advanced film analysis skills.
