Supporting the Health and Wellbeing of Young Children is a 30-credit course for students working in early learning and childcare. Course Description

30-credit course for students working in early learning and childcare contexts.
Focuses on children’s health and wellbeing within family, community, and policy contexts.
Explores key frameworks including GIRFEC, SHANARRI, and the UNCRC.
Examines current issues such as inclusion, equity, poverty, mental health, and wellbeing.
Emphasises ethical, rights-based, and inclusive professional practice.
Supports engagement with policy, research, and professional guidance.
Strongly practice-based, drawing on students’ own settings and communities.
Structured over ten weeks with guided learning and formative activities.
Students investigate local or online wellbeing supports for families.
Assessment involves designing a community information resource and family engagement activity.
Students reflect on professional learning and practice through a short video presentation.
Develops reflective practice and identifies areas for professional development.
