Course Overview

This course allows you to write up a professional project that you have been working on. It addresses planning, implementation, reporting on findings and reflecting upon your professional project. You will be encouraged to engage with a variety of perspectives to inform your project including academic literature, policy documents and the views of colleagues and other stakeholders. The supported use of a range of technologies throughout the course will also enhance your digital practice.

Course Description

This course consists of 8 topics:
  1. Introduction 
  2. Identifying your area of interest 
  3. Clarifying the purpose of your project and research features
  4. Formulating and writing up your Action Plan
  5. Piloting the project
  6. Gathering and recording information
  7. Analysing and interpreting your data
  8. Writing up your project report

Details, including assessments, may be subject to change until 21st September 2026 for Term 1 and Full Year courses and 8th January 2027 for Term 2 courses.

Summative Assessments

1st Attempt: The assignment is in two parts. Firstly a formative piece of work - an action plan which consists of a proposal, an ethical approval form and a plan of work. Secondly, a 6000 word project report.

Resit: Re-submission of any failed aspects of assignment

Formative Assessment

Formative assessment is ongoing throughout the project via workshops and e mail.

Feedback

The Action Plan will receive written feedback and discussion and will be resubmitted until a viable project is agreed. The summmative project will recieve written feedback via e mail and comments on the work itself via TURNITIN. Opportunity will be given to students to discuss the feedback if s/he so wishes and those who will require to resubmit will negotiate a time to discuss with the tutor ways of improving it for resubmission.
