The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors accredits both the Diploma and Masters. The purpose of the programme(s) is to prepare candidates for entry to the Rural Faculty of the Institution. Qualification for entry: Candidates will normally have a 2:2 honours level degree or equivalent. Mature students with appropriate professional experience who do not meet the normal entry requirements may also be considered (guidance regarding entrance requirements can be obtained from the School). Given the intensive format of the degree, motivation will be an important factor in selection. Candidates with limited numeracy skills will be expected to attend and reach a satisfactory standard in a course in Quantitative Studies. Duration: 12 months full-time or 9 months full-time plus 6 months part-time (MLE and Dip LE) Content: Candidates shall be required to take the following designated courses unless, in the opinion of the Head of the School of Geosciences, they have already passed the equivalent of any designated course to a satisfactory standard for another degree. Such candidates may be required to select a substitute course(s) of equal credit value, approved by the Head of School. A candidate may resit the examination in no more than two of the above courses and once only for each such course. A candidate resitting one examination who passes the resit at an appropriate standard and who has achieved that standard in all of the other courses may continue to the Final Stage as an MLE candidate. A candidate who resits the examination in two courses and who passes those resits will be allowed to proceed to the Final Stage as a Diploma candidate, satisfactory completion of which shall lead to the award of a Postgraduate Diploma in Land Economy in Rural Surveying.
