Duration: 12 months full-time (MSc); 9 months (PgDip). Content: The programme teaches a scientific approach to the exploitation and management of the marine environment and its living resources. A special feature of the programme is the major contribution from professional marine scientists at the Marine Laboratory and the opportunity for practical research training. There is also an input from professionals in fishing and other industries. The selected and integrated series of topics normally includes: the marine environment; environmental quality and pollution; marine applications of remote sensing; resource ecology; overview of shellfish and fish biology; life cycles; fish growth, metabolism and fecundity; fish population dynamics; fisheries exploitation and management; resource economics; fisheries law and administration; resource utilisation; gear technology; aquaculture; fish diseases and parasites, molecular genetics and GIS. PgDip Following the taught course units, one of the options offered will be selected as the basis for an extended individual study, based mainly on the literature, which will be written up as a dissertation. As an alternative to the dissertation candidates may be permitted to present a report on a short (1 month) practical training exercise. MSc Following the taught course units, students undertake a research training exercise involving about 4 months of practical work. This may be based in the University, in the Marine Laboratory where a wide range of specialist facilities are available, or with other appropriate organisations. The programme is organised as a single course: ZO 50MF (180 credit points) leading to award of the MSc; ZO 51MF (120 credit points) to award of the Postgraduate Diploma. Assessment: Will include reports of coursework, essays, seminars and written examination, together with the dissertation or report. An oral examination may be required. The degree of MSc shall not be awarded to a candidate who fails to the dissertation, irrespective of their performance in the taught programme: such candidates may, at the discretion of the Examiners, be awarded a Postgraduate Diploma if they have achieved the appropriate number of credits. $%&ЏЩ M V Я д ),ћЫЬєчогЦНЕЌЕЌЕЌЕоЕоЕЌЕоЕЈhfsIhfsI6OJQJhfsIOJQJhfsIOJQJ\hЛ"hfsICJOJQJhfsI5CJOJQJhfsI5OJQJhЛ"hfsICJOJQJhfsI5CJ OJQJ %&bЎЏ L M Ю Я ()OPњњњњюпеееееШеењРњЏІ„ьџ`„ьџgdfsI Ц0„0„а§^„0`„а§gdfsI$a$gdfsI $ Ц0a$gdfsI Ц0gdfsI Ц 06$Тd№gdfsI Ц 9r / 6$ТgdfsIgdfsIЬўњћЫЬэус Ц0gdfsI Ц0„0„а§^„0`„а§gdfsI,1hАа/ Ар=!А"А# $ %ААФАФ Ф†œJ`ёџJ fsINormal$a$CJOJQJ_HmH sH tH >`> fsI Heading 3$d8џ@&5DA@ђџЁD Default Paragraph FontRi@ѓџГR Table Normalі4ж l4жaі (k@єџС(No List4`ђ4 fsIHeader Ц9r Ь џџџџ %&bЎЏLMЮЯ()OPњћЫ Ю ˜@0€у@˜@0€у@€˜@0€у@€˜@0€у@(@0€€˜@0€}F˜@0€}F˜@0€}F˜@0€}F˜@0€}F˜@0€}F˜@0€}F˜@0€}F˜@0€}F˜@0€}F˜@0€}F˜@0€}F˜@0€}F˜@0€}F˜@0€}FhЫ00€ %&bЎЏLMЮЯ()OPњћЫ Ю ŠЭ00ŸŠЭ00ŸŠЭ00ŸŠЭ00ŸŠЭ00ŸŠЭ00ŸŠЭ00ŸŠЭ00ŸŠЭ00ŸŠЭ00ŸŠЭ00ŸŠЭ00ŸŠЭ00ŸŠЭ00ŸŠЭ00ŸŠЭ00ŸŠЭ00ŸŠЭ00ŸŠЭ00ŸŠЭ00Ÿ 00Ы Ь њЬ Ь џџžbatђLŸbad!ЄЄЮ ЌЌЮ 8*€urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags€City€9*€urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags€place€ p ВINDIЯдЮ ;Ecj„Ю 333Ю хfsIџ@PXЂXXЬ @џџUnknownџџџџџџџџџџџџG‡z €џTimes New Roman5€Symbol3& ‡z €џArialY CG TimesTimes New Roman"qˆ№аhL\Љ&L\Љ&œ0 œ0 !№ ДД24Ч Ч 2ƒQ№HP)№џ? Document.8є9Вq
