It will also appeal to those who wish to further an interest in Christian History as part of a programme of life-long learning. Qualifications for entry: Candidates must normally have at least a second class Honours degree in Divinity, Religious Studies or the equivalent. Applications will also be considered from candidates with at least a II Honours degree in History that includes a strong component of religious history. Duration: 12 months full-time Content: Students are required to take: DR 5062 Method in Theology (10 credit points) DR 5063 Dissertation Colloquium (10 credit points) These courses form the core of all taught MTh programmes in Divinity and Religious Studies. In addition, students take a further four elective courses and write a supervised dissertation of approximately 20,000 words on a topic related to the degree. Of the four elective courses, at least two must be taken in the following areas: DR 5056 Catholicism and Politics in the 20th Century (20 credit points) DR 5558 Early Modern Catholicism (20 credit points) HI 5005 Basic Latin for Historians (20 credit points) HI 5026 Witchcraft, Traditional Practices and the Rise of a Protestant Culture in Early Modern Scotland (20 credit points) HI 5530 Canon Law and Lawyers in the Middle Ages (20 credit points) The remaining one or two electives may be taken from a range of taught Master’s level courses in the School of Divinity, History and Philosophy.
