Duration: 12 months full-time or 24 months part-time. Content: Candidates are required to take the courses from the list below and then proceed, if eligible, to the dissertation. All candidates must take 120 credits from the courses. Only candidates who complete the programme of courses at an appropriate standard (attain a CAS mark of at least 9) will be allowed to progress to the dissertation. The topic of the dissertation will be agreed in advance with the supervisor. Candidates who fail to achieve the standard for progression to, or who elect not to proceed to, the dissertation shall be awarded a Postgraduate Diploma if they have achieved the appropriate number of credits for that award. PH 5520 Philosophy Dissertation (15,000 – 20,000 words) (60 credit points) Taught Philosophy courses are also open to students from other disciplines. Assessment: The taught courses will be assessed by course work, by written examination or by a combination of these, as prescribed for each course. The dissertation course will be assessed by the submission of the dissertation. The degree of MLitt shall not be awarded to candidates who fail to achieve a CAS mark of 9 or above in the dissertation, irrespective of their performance in other courses.
