Duration: 12 months full-time or 24 months part time (MSc); 9 months full-time (PgDip) Content: This course has been specifically designed to recognise the commercial maturating of medical biotechnology in Europe and the US, whilst at the same time acknowledging the rapid growth in biotechnological science in many other parts of the world. The course provides a fusion of modules covering many of the latest scientific developments in drug discovery, therapeutics and disease prevention, together with an introduction to the commercial, legal (intellectual property) and ethical aspects of todays bio-business world. This postgraduate course will provide a unique opportunity to gain experience of the latest science and business developments in the fast moving world of medical biotechnology. For the students embarking on this course, significant emphasis will be placed on self-directed learning allied to a tutorial programme. Throughout the programme, students will be given further instruction in aspects of laboratory safety and will attend sessions to improve their computing skills. The students will also be given the opportunity to attend employability classes and careers workshops.
