Duration: 12 months full-time (MSc); 9 months full-time (PgDip); 4 months full-time (PgCert) Content: All candidates shall be required to attend the following designated programme of courses: For the Certificate The following course is mandatory: CS 5302 Enterprise Programming (15 credit points) In addition, students will take three courses from the following electives (some courses will not be available every year, others may be made available): CS 5008 Semantic Web Engineering (15 credit points) CS 5011 Mobile Computing (15 credit points) CS 5012 Data Mining and Visualisation (15 credit points) CS 5014 Multi-Agent Systems (15 credit points) CS 5038 The Electronic Society (15 credit points) CS 5057 Natural Language Processing (15 credit points) Students who achieve a total of at least 60 credit points from the above courses may be awarded the Postgraduate Certificate. For the Diploma The following courses are mandatory: CS 5563 Advanced Computer Science Workshop (20 credit points) CS 5567 E-Business Strategies (10 credit points) CS 5915 Technological, Scientific and Market Research (20 credit points) Candidates who achieve a total of at least 120 credit points from the above prescribed courses may be awarded the Postgraduate Diploma. For the MSc Only candidates who complete the above programme at an appropriate standard will be allowed to progress to the project stage. Candidates who fail to achieve the standard for progression to, or who elect not to proceed to, the project stage shall be awarded a Postgraduate Diploma if they have achieved the appropriate standard for that award. Project Stage CS 5950 MSc Project in Advanced Computer Science (60 credit points) Assessment: By course work, by written examination or by a combination of these as prescribed for each course. The project (CS 5950) will be assessed by project implementation and by a dissertation. The degree of MSc shall not be awarded to a candidate who fails to complete CS 5950 at an appropriate standard, irrespective of their performance in other courses.
