We were delighted to learn that our Public Engagement Group applied for and has been awarded the Marie Curie Alumni Association (Scotland Chapter) bursary to support Unit engagement activities around the theme of ‘Pioneers’. This is great news, and especially so after another successful May Festival just a couple of weeks ago!
Our group is currently planning and events for September as part of 51cg Public Engagement with Research programmes. The group is looking forward to bringing and how we use his (adapted) ‘Limeys’ approach in our modern clinical trials and health services research @hsru_aberdeen.
Our lead for Public Engagement, Dr Heather Morgan, said: “This is absolutely fantastic news - we are so excited to receive this award. We’ve been working hard as a group, since our initial foray into local science festivals last year, to develop our engagement work. We really enjoy talking with people about what we do and why. We especially love using re-enactment of our pioneer's first clinical trial, which we still draw on today, to engage folks with our research. Thank you, , for supporting us!”
