The Department of Music is proud to announce the launch of the Spring 2012 Concert Season.聽 As usual there is a good mix of repertoire, ranging from early music to first performances.聽Earlier repertoire is well represented this season; our postgraduate organ scholar, Ralph Stelzenmuller, who is also a distinguished harpsichordist, joins forces with Caroline Ritchie in a concert of music by C.P.E. Bach.聽 There will also be a performance by students who have been working with our original eighteenth-century violins (by Joseph Ruddiman) under the expert guidance of Claire and Amanda Babington.聽
We are delighted to present the premiere of a song cycle by the eminent composer Thea Musgrave, especially written of one of our undergraduate singers, Andrew McNeill, who will give the first performance. 聽The cycle of Beethoven string quartets in performances by the Edinburgh Quartet continues in a collaborative project with Aberdeen City Council and the concert series ends in May with Dame Emma Kirkby, one of our visiting performance fellows, alongside some splendid musicians in a concert featuring music associated with Christina, Queen of Sweden.
