"Transformative Experience" - Prof Laurie Paul will discuss the philosophical challenges involved in making life-defining choices.

Deciding to become a parent or to embark on a particular career, or choosing to become a vampire have one thing in common. They all involve undergoing transformative experience: in making these life-defining choices, you literally change who you are. But is it possible to make these decisions rationally and authentically?

Prof Paul will discuss the philosophical challenges and ideas involved with these choices, focusing on how transformative events can teach us things we cannot know about from any other source other than the experiences themselves.

The talk is followed by a screening of the film 'What We Do in the Shadows'. Tickets for the talk/screening are FREE but booking is required.
