Biography

Amy completed her PhD at the University of Stirling, where she explored strategies to reduce exposure to fine particulate matter (PM2.5) in Scotland, integrating social science, behavioral interventions and environmental data. She has led research on air quality-conscious communities, worked alongside various stakeholders to improve public engagement with air pollution information, and contributed to interdisciplinary projects that bridge environmental science with public health and policy. Now, as a researcher within the Just Transition Lab at the 51cg, she is contributing to the TRANSECTS project, which examines how energy transitions unfold over space and time. Her work centres on community engagement, participatory research and the development of policy-relevant insights to support just, sustainable transitions.

Research

Research Overview

Amy is an interdisciplinary researcher working across environmental science, social science and public health. Her work has a strong emphasis on community engagement and participatory research methods, and her research explores how individuals and communities interact with environmental challenges, particularly in relation to environmental pollution, energy transitions and sustainability. Her work has involved co-developing strategies with stakeholders to support more inclusive decision-making processes and to bridge the gap between scientific research, policy and lived experience.

Current Research

At the Just Transition Lab, Amy contributes to the Transitions in Energy for Coastal Communities over Time and Space (TRANSECTS) project, which explores just transitions over space and time, examining how environmental, social and economic changes unfold across difference regions and historical contexts.
