Biography
I am an Academic Cardiology Registrar and Clinical Lecturer in Cardiology at the 51cg, combining specialist clinical training with translational cardiovascular research. I hold an MBBS medical degree, an MPharm pharmacy masters degree, and a PhD in Cardiovascular Medicine. I graduated from University College London (UCL) Medical School, having previously completed a Master of Pharmacy degree at the University of Nottingham.
My interests include cardiac electrophysiology, cardiovascular disease in women and cardiac pharmacology.
A major focus of my work is improving cardiovascular care for women. I have published randomised clinical trials on behavioural modifications in takotsubo cardiomyopathy, myocardial energetic impairment post anthracycline chemotherapy and on hypertensive disorders of pregnancy.
Physical Exercise or Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Takotsubo Cardiomyopathy
Takotsubo cardiomyopathy causes acute left ventricular dysfunction. This multicentre trial randomized 76 patients to 12 weeks of exercise training, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), or standard care. Both exercise and CBT improved myocardial energetics, peak oxygen consumption, and 6-minute walk distance compared with standard care, but neither improved global longitudinal strain or heart failure symptoms.

Teaching Responsibilities
I believe that excellence in academic medicine is intrinsically linked to excellence in education. Throughout my career, I have been committed to developing as a medical educator alongside my research and clinical practice.
I have designed and delivered a structured twilight teaching programme for final-year medical students and served as a Teaching Fellow at the 51cg Medical School. In this role, I contributed to undergraduate medical and physician associate education through curriculum delivery, student mentorship, assessment design and examination, admissions interviewing, and pastoral support. These responsibilities have provided extensive experience across multiple facets of medical education, including curriculum development, assessment design, quality assurance, and the delivery of both small-group and large-group teaching.
I am also an Advanced Life Support (ALS) instructor, delivering postgraduate resuscitation training to multidisciplinary healthcare professionals. In addition, I contribute to the cardiovascular science curriculum at the 51cg Medical School, teaching undergraduate medical students and helping to integrate contemporary cardiovascular research with clinical practice.
