Biography

Dr Gaba is a RCOG accredited Consultant Gynaecological Oncology Surgeon at University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust. Dr Gaba completed her subspecialty fellowship at the Barts and Royal Marsden cancer centres in London and has expertise in radical ovarian cancer cytoreduction, HIPEC, minimal access (laparoscopy and robotic), sentinel node mapping and recurrence surgery for gynaecological cancers. She is also a BIARGS, SERGS and INTUITIVE accredited robotic surgeon.

Dr Gaba was awarded her PhD on targeted prevention of ovarian cancer from Queen Mary University of London and leads her own research group. She is the founder and lead of the Global Gynaecological Oncology Surgical Outcomes Collaborative (GO SOAR). Her research interests include surgical outcomes following Gynaecological oncology surgery, artificial intelligence predictive modelling, and real world clinical data.

Faiza's research interests include surgical outcomes following Gynaecological Oncology surgery, Gynaecological Oncology training, and the development of precision-prevention strategies in the management of familial Gynaecological cancer risk.

Current Research

An international, prospective, cohort study comparing surgical outcomes following Gynaecological Oncology surgery between human development index grouped countries.

 

PROMEGO: Chief investigator

Development of artificial intelligence algorithms to provide personalised risk estimates for post-operative morbidity and mortality.

 

Integration of Robotic Surgery into routine Gynaecological Oncology Practice and impact on Surgical Teams: Chief Investigator

A mixed methodology study evaluating the impact of robotic surgery in gynaecological oncology on surgical teams, communication, collaboration, decision making, and facilitators/barriers to setting up a robotic service.
