Biography

I am an architect, urban planner and socio-spatial researcher with interests spanning housing affordability, community-led retrofit and social sustainability, and a particular focus on how design and management practices shape everyday life in housing environments. I am currently a Postdoctoral Research Fellow on the JUST-Systems project (UKRI EPSRC-funded) in the School of Geosciences and the Just Transition Lab, contributing to place-based work on the just transition through participatory research, stakeholder engagement and systems thinking.

I completed my PhD as a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellow within the at the University of Reading. My doctoral research examined how housing design and management interact to influence residents’ quality of life, and developed practice-oriented approaches for conceptualising and assessing social value with housing providers. Conceptually, my thesis drew on the Capability Approach to connect normative questions (what should housing enable people to be and do?) with operational evaluation, and on Christopher Alexander’s pattern language as a generative and participatory framework to support resident agency and translate lived experience into actionable insights for housing management and design.

Methodologically, I combine qualitative and spatial research, post-occupancy evaluation, and co-produced engagement processes with residents and stakeholders. I am interested in developing tools and frameworks that bridge research, practice and evaluation, particularly in contexts of inequality, fuel poverty and climate transition.

I welcome collaborations on retrofit and decarbonisation, post-occupancy evaluation, housing innovation, and just transition research and practice.
