Biography

Sarah is a Research Fellow in the Aberdeen Centre for Evaluation working with Profs Shaun Treweek and Miriam Brazzelli on a range of initiatives aimed at reducing health inequalities and advancing inclusion in medical research.

Her work includes evidence synthesis, clinical trial methodologies, metascience, and emerging applications of Artificial Intelligence. She is a Chartered Librarian (MCLIP) and believes that libraries and information science play a vital role in making knowledge accessible and meaningful in a world overflowing with data.

Some of Sarah’s key projects for the 51cg include:

• Working to build an inclusive clinical studies ecosystem to drive health equity in Europe ()
  
  
• Investigating how new approaches to pre-funding peer review could improve the importance, design, feasibility, integrity, and reporting of clinical trials (INFORM)
  
  
• Developing the curriculum for Inclusive Clinical Trials: Training and Education to Increase Involvement of Under-Served Groups ()
  
  
• Improving cancer screening uptake in Northeast Scotland, a project recognized by the for its impact on public health

Sarah previously contributed to the Innovations in Clinical Trial Design and Delivery for the Under-served () project with the National Institute for Health and Care Research. You can also find her as an occasional contributor to , which features the INCLUDE project as a key part of its research outputs.

In 2025, Sarah was on secondment with the Civil Service in the DWP Central Analysis and Science Strategy Unit. As of 2026, Sarah also holds a research fellowship working on the project through University College Cork, Ireland.
