Biography

Dr Solomon Obulor is a Senior Lecturer in Energy and Natural Resource Law and the Director of the Diploma in Professional Legal Practice. Dr Obulor is a dual-qualified solicitor, legal scholar, and law teacher. Dr Obulor is a Solicitor and Notary Public in Scotland and a Barrister and Solicitor in Nigeria and holds an unrestricted practising certificate in Scotland and Nigeria. As a solicitor, legal scholar and teacher, Dr Obulor has expertise in commercial dispute resolution, professional clinical legal education, public, energy, natural resource and environmental law, climate change, and energy transition.

As a solicitor, Dr Obulor advises public authorities on a range of commercial law and policy issues relating to procurement, subsidy control, freedom of information, data protection, children’s rights, early learning and childcare and school education and immigration. Dr Obulor also negotiates, drafts and reviews complex commercial contracts.

As a law teacher, Dr Obulor contributes to teaching a wide range of Scots and energy law modules. As a legal scholar, Dr Obulor has published high-quality academic papers.

Dr Obulor holds a PhD in law, Qualified Lawyers Assessment Certificate from the Law Society of Scotland (QLA), an LLM in Oil and Gas Law, a Dip LP and an LLB (Nig).

Management of natural resources, particularly, renewable energy resources in the Global South in the light of the current energy transition to avoid the natural resource curse that has been associated with the development of non-renewable energy resource, mainly petroleum in the Global South.
