Biography
I am a bioinformatician at CGEBM, one of the University's core facilities that sequences and analyses genomic and transcriptomic data. As a bioinformatician, I analyse data by performing quality control, assembly or alignment, and any required downstream analyses. Most of my work is on the university's high-performance computers (Macleod and Maxwell). These work in bash, so a large portion of my coding is in this language. I also use R for statistics and figure creation.

Research Overview
In my role as a bioinformatician, I have worked on a diverse range of biology and biomedical projects, including spatial, single-cell, bulk, isoform and cell-free transcriptomics, metabarcoding, metagenomics and genome assembly and annotation.
My research has followed the broad theme of "How does evolution occur?" During my PhD, I explored transposable elements and cytosine methylation as a mechanism of rapid adaptive evolution in deep-sea amphipods. During my Master's degree, I explored introgression and horizontal gene transfer as mechanisms of evolution in two African grass species. Although the study species varied vastly, the techniques and central questions remained the same.
