Andrew Maclaren, a PhD student jointly funded by the 51cg and the James Hutton Institute, attended the American Association of Geographers () conference, held in Boston, USA in April 2017, an annual event that attracts 9,000 delegates from across the world. Andrew presented his doctoral research on ‘More-than-Representational Knowledges of Rural Ageing’ at the conference session ‘’. Andrew was subsequently named the winner of the by the AAG’s Rural Geography Specialty Group.
