Research Overview

Language analysis in the human brain is not a fixed function but an adaptive process, shaped by demands of the immediate context and by individual’s cognitive profile. Research in my lab () seeks to understand the neural mechanisms of this adaptability, and how they underpin resilient language development. I study short-term, context-driven adaptability by examining how listeners and readers optimise language analysis in real time to match different communicative goals. In parallel I study how cortical language processing adapts long-term to support oral and written language comprehension in adults and children with language disorders (specifically dyslexia), aiming to harness these mechanisms for targeted remediation. Across both strands, I combine time-resolved neuroimaging methods (EEG, MEG) and computational linguistics to track real-time analysis of hierarchical linguistic features across cortical networks.
