Who is the mysterious minstrel who is wandering around? Where is he going- and why is he so sad? Who does he meet along the way?
The activity uses the opening section of Walter Scott's The Lay of the Last Minstrel to explore themes of character and characterisation. Pupils explore the character of the minstrel through drawing, discussion and drama, and have the chance to create characters of their own.
