Have you ever thought about writing for a living?

If you're studying for an MA degree you will certainly be writing a lot of essays. But have you ever thought about applying those skills in a job? We’ve invited six alumni of the university who work with words in various contexts to share their stories and answer your questions.

Whether they’re writing to inform, to influence, or to inspire, to engage, explain or entertain, these alumni spend their days crafting, conjuring and cross-referencing sentences, utilising different mediums for a range of audiences.

The format for the event will be an in-person panel discussion with an opportunity to network informally towards the end. Refreshments will be provided.

Speaking this event:

  • Rory Buccheri – Food and Drink Reporter at The Grocer
    • I have years of experience freelancing for national publications (METRO, Financial Times, etc) and, more recently, in a staff role as Food & Drink Reporter for the UK's top specialist magazine at William Reed.
  • Tilda Nilsson – Programmes & Administrative Officer, Cease UK
    • I support both the Head of Communications in our comms work and the Head of Policy in briefings, events and communications with stakeholders and MPs.
  • Hannah Nicholson – Writer/Library Assistant (and contributor to Speakin’ Weird)
    • I'm a writer so I work with words a fair bit, both written and spoken.

The event will be held in the Sir Duncan Rice Library, Floor 7 in the Craig Suite.
