Suicide Awareness

CW: This page and these courses will discuss suicide and symptoms of mental illness, which may be triggering for some. Please keep yourself safe and access support should you need to.

Suicide can affect anyone, however there are groups which are most vulnerable; and students are at greater risk when compared to the general population, as referenced in the

Knowing how to recognise signs of distress, start a conversation and connect someone with support can make a real difference.

The Suicide Safe University Commitment aims to reduce the risk and impact of suicide across the University community through prevention, intervention and postvention. These resources provide opportunities to develop awareness, knowledge and confidence in responding to suicide and suicidal distress.

A range of in-person training, guidance and free online courses are available below, covering suicide prevention, having conversations about suicide, and supporting people in different circumstances and communities.

Whether looking to develop a basic understanding or build greater confidence in supporting others, there are resources to suit different levels of knowledge and experience.

Take the first step today by developing your awareness around the topic of suicide and how we all have a part to play in prevention.
