Lenders

Below is a list of lenders offering private educational loans that are commonly utilized by 51cg students. This is not a comprehensive list of all the educational loans available to you. You are not required to select one of these lenders. Inclusion on this list is not an endorsement or recommendation by the 51cg. If a parent or student has worked with a lender not listed below and has received excellent benefits and quality service, please recommend this lender to us by emailing usaloans@abdn.ac.uk

Each lender's loan program may have different requirements. Be sure to check with your lender regarding the loan programs you qualify for that best suit your needs. Also check with your specific lender regarding their process for certification and disbursement and whether they offer loans to students studying outside of the US.

September 2026 starts Prodigy Update (August 2026)

Prodigy Finance has made a limited pool of additional funding available for eligible students from Africa. Students can and submit an application.  Students may not immediately see the 51cg or their programme listed on the page. Students should click ‘Apply Now’ and then select their university from the drop-down menu as part of the application process.  The Prodigy team will review their application and provide clarity on eligibility and next steps.

As this is a limited pool of funding, availability cannot be guaranteed and all applications remain subject to Prodigy's usual eligibility and assessment criteria.

September 2026 starts Prodigy Update (February 2026) -

Prodigy Finance have opened applications for September 2026 cohorts across a select group of universities and programmes. At present, this initial phase is available to Indian nationals under their current funding facilities.

This represents a temporary, phased launch rather than a change in their long-term support strategy. Coverage is intentionally narrower at this stage while additional funding facilities are finalised. Importantly, this is not a reflection of programme quality, institutional partnership, or student calibre, but simply the sequencing of capital deployment tied to investor eligibility parameters.

Their capital markets and funding teams are confidently progressing advanced discussions to secure additional funding that will enable them to expand coverage across a broader range of universities, programmes, and student nationalities. They expect to share a further update within the next couple of weeks as these facilities are confirmed.
