Reading Lists

There will be prescribed courses you study each year to make up your degree. Depending on your programme of study, your prescribed courses will be hosted in different Schools and/or Departments. However, most Engineering courses are based within the School of Engineering.

Each course will have a different course code prefix, for example:

  • EG, EA, EE, EM and EX = School of Engineering courses
  • CM = Department of Chemistry, School of Natural and Computing Sciences
  • CS = Department of Computing Science, School of Natural and Computing Sciences
  • GL = School of Geosciences

Find out about the prescribed courses you study that will make up your degree here.

Links to the most recent reading lists (where available) for the courses prescribed for the Engineering degree programmes can be found below. Please note that, whilst we expect the majority of reading lists to remain unchanged this year, the reading lists for courses during academic year 2025-26 may differ from those linked below.

Updated reading lists for 2025-26 will be available on MyAberdeen and through the Library prior to the commencement of teaching on 22 September 2025.
