Sometimes a dissertation is a literature review in itself. Dissertations tend to require a process of reviewing existing literature to establish what the dissertation adds that is new. This session looks at the processes of reviewing literature and points out some of the questions to ask yourself.

As a postgraduate student approaching a dissertation/project, you are required to engage in and express clearly your own ‘intellectual work’, not simply to gather information. In other words, you are critically constructing knowledge. What does that mean in practice? This session answers that question.

This workshop looks at different effective techniques for making organised, interactive notes from your sources, practical activities etc. which can help when you start writing your dissertation.
