What is the Take Off Challenge 2027?

• An annual enterprise competition at the 51cg that provides training and funding for students and recent graduates pursuing a business idea.

Who can apply?

• All current 51cg students and recent graduates (within the last two years).

What's in it for you?

Whether you’re developing an idea or already running a business, we will give you:

• Two weeks of free workshops to develop your idea and build your entrepreneurial skills.
• The chance to pitch your idea and compete for equity-free cash prizes of up to £5,000 to springboard your business. See cash prizes below.
• Networking opportunities to meet other participants who are on the same journey.
• Exposure to experienced business experts who will assess your idea and provide valuable feedback.

• Engineering Award (sponsored by the Engineers & Scientists in Business Fellowship) - £1,500

• Community Impact Award - £1,500
• Best Pitch Award - £1,000
• People’s Choice Award - £500

• 11th December 2026: Successful participants will be notified
• 26th January/2nd February/4th February 2027: Enterprise workshops
• 10th February 2027: Business case submission deadline
• 25th February 2027: Successful finalists notified
• 3rd March 2027: Finalists filming and pitching workshop
• 11th March 2027: Take Off Challenge Finale
